UK Hydrogen Foundations Briefing

What is this course about?

Beyond2050 is excited to introduce our new virtual training course, UK Hydrogen Foundations Briefing: The politics, policy and future of the UK hydrogen industry.

This training session has been created to help new colleagues entering the UK hydrogen industry to get up to speed with the current state of the politics and policy that are influencing the market’s development.

The UK Hydrogen Foundations Briefing has been created by Beyond2050. Our consultants have been working in the politics and policy of hydrogen since 2016 and have strong relationships across the politicians, officials and industry leaders at the centre of the UK hydrogen debate.

What will I learn from this course?

The politics that shape UK hydrogen policy: From Boris Johnson’s pledge to place “a big bet” on hydrogen, to Rishi Sunak’s Net Zero ‘row back’, the course will cover the national, regional and devolved politics shaping UK hydrogen policy.

The UK Government’s hydrogen policy timeline: This will set out the policies and funding allocations committed to across Whitehall departments, so you can be confident your team members are aware of the Government’s plans and timeframes for delivery.

A look ahead to the General Election: With polls consistently suggesting Labour will win this year’s General Election, there will be a deep-dive into the party’s publicly stated policy commitments on hydrogen, and how the industry fits into Labour’s Clean Energy Superpower mission.

When do the courses take place?

The UK Hydrogen Foundations Briefings take place on the second Thursday of each month.
